muscle car | Remember when we could buy a car and as long as we kept up with the payments/paid it off, it was ours ? How sad that newer cars of most brands now require subscription services to access installed features such as remote start, navigation systems, etc. GM have made almost a billion dollars this year on such services. | image tagged in muscle car | made w/ Imgflip meme maker

I don't want remote start. My concern if that by using remote start, someone will intercept the signal and steal the car. Also, if you can't get around your home town without GPS, you had a very inadequate upbringing.

Stupid people will get hooked on these monthly fees, whereas smart people won't need them.

I also don't have remote start. I still travel to places I've never been so utilize a form of GPS unattached to my vehicle. My problem with this is somewhat multifaceted. Car companies primarily install these items at the factory, so unless a person preorders their brand new vehicle without all the bells and whistles, the consumer pays for the installed "perk" only to have its use thereof subjected to monthly payments. The gaming community is having similar issues with the game and game console manufacturers. The used "car" market utilizes to some extent, installed options to determine it's worth. Purchasing something without owning it is a bad way to run the sales of a "good" as opposed to a "service". One manufacturer makes oil information part of a subscription. Will AC become a subscription option? Heat? In the highly computerized vehicles that are currently being made, eventually it can all be for sale.
