I was fired for refusing the vax. I was given two outs, ask for a religious objection (which would have been denied) or a medical wavier. I took option three, I explained a vax was not a requirement to get the job and should be one to maintain it. At the time ten of us worked in the building all but one took the jab, he used the religious objection, and it was refused. I just went with I don't want it, don't need it and will not comply. We all got covid, the first to get sick was also the first one jabbed. No one at work died but several of them were really sick. I slept for about 18 hours and was fine. I wasn't allowed to go back to the building for 14 days; the vaxed workers went back when they felt up to it.
I worked throughout the lock down made serious overtime money and used it to start my own business after I was fired. Now I own three and have almost zero free time and enough money to do whatever I want and don't have to answer to idiots any longer.
Now that all the madness is over several of my ex-coworkers have reached out trying to be friends again. Before covid I was the guy that would take you fishing, let you and your kids hunt, shoot ride 4x4's etc. All of them left that business, it folded. I ran into a few of them over the years and explained, none of them took my side, no one spoke out to defend my right to refuse a shot that I didn't need, none of them spoke out against firing me and none of them will ever be in my social circle again. I will never mistake friends and co-workers as the same thing ever again.
