Socialists have ruined many countries. As a center left liberal, I oppose socialism. You should look at north korea and that will tell you everything about socialism.
North korea is socialist because you can in practice, own tiny amounts of property like something you got at the unofficial north korean black market but the state owns everything else.

Socialism seeks for economic equality and the only reason stuff like North korea exists is jackasses taking advantage of the public.
Socialism uses authoritarian control. Regardless of the official ideology, all authoritarianism brings violence, terror, and economic collapse. Look at liberal nations and you'll find them so much better than socialist ones.
