The only way to reduce rent is to oversaturate the market with slightly more houses than potential purchasers, thereby making houses for their intended purpose -- for living in, not an investment business.
Unfortunately for liberals this means getting rid of regulation so that people can accomplish it because 50,000 people building 50,000 homes exceeds the 12 houses the government can build in a 30 year time period.
