Numbers 31:17 "Now therefore, kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman who has known a man by sleeping with him".

All three of the Abrahamic religions have violence in their pasts and in their scriptures, but have many millions of fine, decent believers.

Kind of left out the parts where the Amaleks were constantly attacking and harassing the Hebrews while they were wandering the wilderness at that point.

Also back then every single nation/kingdom was trying to completely genocide each other into total extinction. Back then 'kill them all or be totally killed' was the absolute rule of survival and war. God didn't set that into motion, man did.

And that is roughly the cultural context for the similar lines in the Quran. Luke 6:41-42 (and Matthew) reminds us to worry about our own shortcomings first. Confucius said (really!) "A great man is hard on himself; a small man is hard on others."

I'm not offering the Bible verses to say that the Bible is wrong or that everything is perfect about Islam and its scriptures, but to point out that all the Abrahamic religions, like all major cultural movements, have some unpleasant things in their closets. So if we only single out one of them for criticism, it's short-sighted and hypocritical.

Funny enough, I'm not religious or believing in any God. In fact, I prefer reading mythology of the Greek and Roman gods as a hobby.
