Any other year? Any other place? Sure. But if you set off fireworks anywhere with a red flag warning, consider yourself an arsonist.

If you're not in an area with extreme or even moderate wildfire risk, go ahead and light those fireworks. But if you have the audacity to light your fireworks anywhere in Colorado, Utah, New Mexico or Arizona, you're aren't being patriotic, you're being a threat to yourself, your neighbors, the environment and wildlife. If you think it's worth putting firefighters and Forest Service workers lives at risk for a little bang in the sky, maybe you need to stop and think about what really matters in life

3 firefighters have died because of the wildfires in Colorado and Utah, if you live somewhere other than the 4 corners area, go ahead, light those fireworks. But lighting them here is a spit in the face to those 3, as well as their families and coworkers. It's no longer patriotic when you put at risk the lives of men and women like those 3 who tragically lost their lives in the Snyder Fire.
