The thing is that people don't appreciate the differences in technological advances and the real reasons behind them. Nobody is brilliant. All the "geniuses" were uploaded information in dreams or other means of direct revelation. People went from whittling wood and carving rocks to plastic 3D printers and nanobots on their own?
