Teachers throughout the US have been sounding the alarm for years about the lack of reading, math and comprehension skills in their students. There are teachers complaining that their administrators won't allow them to grade on things like: turning the homework in on time, creativity, originality, attention to detail. The student puts in little to no effort is being given the same grade as those that put effort into their assignments. Certainly not all, but many students are unable to read at grade level, if at all. They also cannot comprehend basic ideas. Many of the students parents are even complaining that their children don't need all that reading, all that homework. Is it any wonder that so many can only parrot what they are told and get angry when pressed to explain their opinions? A person on TV or their teacher told them something so it must be true!! Democrats understand this better than anyone. They aren't clever, but they are cunning. They control curriculum. They tell the students it's okay to skip learning to protest for democratic causes. What better way to force future voters to rely on the government than to help them to not succeed? When learning is not promoted, society fails.

So well said by a stellar conservative man! If we could just bring back the notion of excellence and reject radicalism from the left, we could get America back on track.

I had a teacher capable of reaching her students at whatever level of learning ability they were at and was able to teach them, using what they were interested in to teach them not just the basics, but set them on a path of excellence. I watched troubled, disinterested young men and women go from nearly dropping out to actively engaging in their studies. Some went on to college, others opened businesses in automotive repair, plumbing, and the like. Each of us is capable of excelling in at least one thing in life. Too many stop trying to succed way too soon.

We have a son who was a fluent reader at age four & read with comprehension. In elementary school, his teacher sent home his work without circling in red any mistakes in spelling. I brought this to her attention and she said that they didn't want to stifle the students creativity by correcting errors. This is the mentality of the left while I believe you correct errors right away before they become habits.

The woman you described deserves a big 'atta-girl' & should be the example for our teachers instead of the liberal feel good, attend the next pride parade, and/or TDS protest and you'll get extra credit. These social justice warriors aren't interested in promoting excellence or success, they promote a totally wrong agenda.

You are absolutely correct. Between terrible teachers, those with nefarious agendas, and those beaten down by a corrupt system, our schools are worthless at educating but great at indoctrination. Children and adults that do their own thinking are too dangerous for the nation haters in charge.
