General US Grant had a lot more respect for Robert E. Lee than most people today can muster.
Richard Henry Lee and his brother Francis Lightfoot Lee signed the Declaration of Independence.
Lee's family was always in service of the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Colony, then joining the Union at the outset.
The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier today sits in his Front Porch Of Lee, and his wife's home,
on family real estate property stolen from him by The State of the Union in perpetuity. This home, sits right across the Potomac River from the USA Capitol building. You may know his Plantation as Arlington National Cemetery. Confiscated and Occupied w/o a Warrant by Meigs.
As a Union Officer two years prior to the Civil War, Brevet Colonel Robert E. Lee was ordered by the POTUS Buchanan to lead a group to recapture the Armory and weapons stolen by the hostage takers within Brown's insurgency. Lee ordered Lt. Isaac Greene to break in and free the hostages.
Robert E. Lee brought in John Brown injured, yet alive, to be tried and convicted in a court of law as was due process under the US constitution. Brown was a Violent Radical Law Breaker that makes J6 look like a dinner party. Who was going to Control The Labor Supply necessary to build
5 Transcontinental Railroads? Former Secretary of War, Jefferson Davis, whom had surveyed them all by directing the Topographical Corps of Engineers for the US Army in the aftermath of the creation of the Aztec Club?
Or, Northern businessmen promising cushy work for McClellan as a Railroad Executive? Would these Railroads be built with Slave Labor? Or with a combo of Howqua's Chinese Labor, and immigrant German and Irish rabble paid pennies on the dollar, and given land to work as payment enough and tax forever, to quell the Native American Sovereign Tribes problem of the West?
Had the USA followed precedent of the UK Slavery Compensation Act of 1837; and took out a loan,
things could have turned out more Civil, as had already been demonstrated in England. Would the Institution of Slavery have existed in the Commonwealth of Virginia w/o being a Colony of England?
If you want Reparations today, for the progeny of Slave Owners or for descendants of Slaves,
go get it from Charles III.
Don't be ignorant like Gavin Newsom and give reparations based on skin tone, hairstyle or pigment color in a state that never had the institution of Slavery to begin with, by taxing citizens that have never owned any people..
