If you're uncertain, you could check with them... or at the very least, those who escaped Islamic State tyranny and came here. They sure seem to appreciate at least having a chance for freedom. Freedom that we almost always take for granted.
I think the problem is that most people have none clue what it's like to live under a regime like that. I don't, so I listen to the people who have. I used to have a boss, many years ago, who was a young girl in Romania when the Soviets took over. She told me that when the communists came, they took everything.
