I'm republican, but all prohibition did was give rise to Al Capone and mob rubouts as does prohibition of other drugs currently. If someone wants to use they're going to find a way, and even with all the drug boats that've been blown up all that does is raise the street cost causing crime to go up as addicts do things to get the money for them.
I prefer the european model of centralized facilities for people to get thier stuff and use it, I get tired of walking my dog and wandering past used needles, I know that's not diabetics throwing their works out the car window, in Europe there is places they go get thier stuff, use it there, AND get counseling to try to get to the root of thier need to use to begin with.
I think all drugs should be decriminalized and regulated, because if someone wants to use they will, getting to the root of the reason they started to begin with and edging them toward sobriety is the answer, because as long as there's a demand there will always be a supply regardless of how many boats we blow up.
