Except that the assessment is wrong. Many historical leaders and movers and shakers were actually decent people and quite intelligent. There are deeper underlying reasons -- in most cases -- for things happening and then maybe spiraling out of control. Ideologues refuse to study history because it might teach them uncomfortable truths that run counter to their ideology and indoctrinated narratives.
The non-elites were just as stupid and mean. The peasants were always revolting.
In the name of Liberty, Fraternity and Equality, the lower class executed the upper class in France.
