The Brevard county sheriff in Florida said it best, "you can peacefully protest all you want. But if you spit at, throw bricks, try to run over or impede my officers in any way, you're going to hospital, then to jail. If you point a weapon at any of my officers, we'll be notifying your next of kin to come identify your body...we're not playing around. If you try to stop us from doing our job, YOU are committing a crime and will be arrested!"
