A lot of people try to justify their whining or their illegal/destructive/vengeful actions as heroic by saying "I'm standing up for myself and not taking their abuse/mistreatment/unfairness." There are many problems with this. First, the definition of abuse/mistreatment/unfairness is solely in the eye of the beholder and is too often crafted when emotions are running high and logic is running on low or completely empty. Second, the concrete actions involved in standing up for yourself can range from complaining at best to murder/terrorism at worst. Third, if things get violent, innocent bystanders can end up getting up injured or killed, innocent bystanders who played no part in your so-called "abuse/mistreatment" and probably have no idea who you even are.
It's easy to cast yourself as the big hero if you see everyone around you as a villain.
Everybody says Kevin in "Home Alone 2" was a big hero for what he did during the Christmas concert. He's singing his solo, Buzz uses the electric candles to make Kevin's ears glow, which makes the other singers laugh. Kevin swings around and knocks Buzz down along with all the other singers. What Kevin did to Buzz and his fellow singers was ten times worse than what Buzz did to Kevin. Those who angrily lash out at those who "abuse" or "mistreat" them all too often end up becoming much worse than those who "abused" or "mistreated" them.
