There are four genders. Masculine, feminine, neuter, and common. All pronouns have one of these four. Masculine for referring to males, feminine for females, common when the creature referred to has gender but is not specified, or if there is a group consisting of individuals of both sexes, and neuter is used for objects lacking in gender (i.e. books, trees, anything that lacks gender).
