what's with the kool aid and what does the kool aid have to do with that meme?

A pre-internet meme is "drinking the kool aid" to mean buying into absurd cult propaganda. It's a reference to the Jonestown cult originally (dark stuff), but not usually meant in its full apocalyptic sense.
