The same thing would happen in the U.S. regardless of what these clueless leftists -- living in a fantasy world -- think. The only reason that the military 'works' is because our U.S. government essentially has unlimited funds to fling at it. If our government ran socialized medicine programs under a limited budget then the results would be exactly that as in the U.K. and Canada.
