Ahh, yes, William 'Bobby the Bruce' Wallace won Scoottish Independence.

See people get confused sometimes because all that English money and everything else English they use, but they did produce a Scottish £5 lb note a few years ago to go along with some sort of paper parliament cosplaying as a government.

Plus there's that revival of the dead Scottish language which while some maintain sounds just like English with an "nae" suffixing nearly every word (suffixnae evernae woordnae), nobody calls French, Spanish, just because it's the same language with an "eux" ending every word just to sound snooty. Because nothing sounds snootier than mispronounced Latin.

Typical Gaelic mangling of the language of their conquerors. Damnae Celtnae canae pronouncae correctlinae the woordsnae ou thaer ooverlordsnae!

Yes, William Wallace won. So did all the other Scotsmen who died during the war.

There is no 'English money' propping up any country. Westminster's money is made up of Scottish, English, Welsh and Northern Irish money. We have our own notes and yes, it's legal tender. If it wasn't then Westminster wouldn't be taking our Scottish notes as tax and selling our own resources back to us with a surcharge added on.

The Scots Language is older than English, English words use Scots language words, not the other way around. Scots is far from a dead language, being spoken by millions of people in Scotland alone, and millions more worldwide with countless evolving regional dialects. My village has our own dialect that evolved constantly over the last 600 years lol.

Germanic/Romance languages share a common lineage and spelling/pronunciation? Who would have thought! Its almost like they're all related or something.

The Scottish Parliament is a legitimate government with our own laws and customs separate to Westminster. A government that is so useless, that Westminster will sabotage and make illegal Scots pride during an indyref in order to keep is bound to a union most of us want to leave.

Oh wow, they expanded it to five notes, what a difference a decade makes, huh. Who knows how many decades till they finally get their own coinage.

The only Scottish language words in use today by their English overlords are place names. A town here, a street there. Pretty impressive. Same with Welsh words. I mean, seriously, the people whom the island is named after literally go by a derivative of the old English word for foreigner. Let that sink in. Foreigners in their own land.

Not only did the Picts completely disappear (at least as an Identity), there's archaeological evidence of another Celtic group up there that we know nothing about, just that they were distinct group. Gone, Anglicized out of existence.

But hey, there's hope. As of the last poll, it's going to take convincing only 51% of the rest of the Scottish to get rid of their apparently rather welcome English yoke. It may seem odd that people would prefer subjugation rather than their freedom, but then again, look at the bright side - how much of an economy they're going to have on their own based on mutton and the whiskey distillery tourism industry,,,

Cheers!

We have our own money. The British pound Sterling bears a Scots name lol.

clude Aye (yes), Wee (small), Braw (lovely/good), Ken (know), Scran (food), Dreich (dreary weather), Blether (chat), Eejit (idiot), and Bonnie (pretty), covering everyday terms for affirmation, description, people, and weather, often with unique sounds like the guttural 'ch' in Dreich.

The other Celtic group apart from the Pics where the Scotti. The pics were defeated by us Scotti, hence why the country is called Scotland and not Pictland. The what was left of the Picts became the Scots. Picts are native to the highlands, Scots like me are native to the lowlands, and we are the overwhelming majority. At least do basic research.

We are not subjected by England. We are held against our national will in the UK by Westminster. There is no rival between Scots and Anglos, this is real life not some American fantasy story, Scotland and England are good friends.
We are not England's background, we are a country with industry, nature, culture and attractions that more and more tourists flock too every year.
We are also the UK's most important defence base, holding the entire nuclear arsenal and the finest proving grounds for military training in Western Europe.
We are a crucial resource rich nation that Westminster can't afford to lose, hence why they won't let us vote to leave and will do everything in their power to keep exploiting us because if we leave, they'd have to pay their fair share for our resources.

You're confusing modern Scottish slang derived from Middle English as authentic Scottish Gaelic predating the arrival of the Angles & Co. I gave up checking after the 5th word. Aye and wee are the only of those words used outside of Scotland, and they are not Scottish in origin.

"We are not subjugated by England, we're just held against our will by England"

Luv it.

Hey, don't worry, a few more non-binding resolutions and I'm sure Scotland will develop the ballsnae to split offnae from themin Englae,,,

Scots. Is. Older. Than. English.

Scots. Is. A. Language. Not. Slang. You. Racist.

Scots. Is. Always. Evolving. Like. Every. Other. Non-dead. Language.

'Wee' and 'Aye' are Scottish words in origin. It shares an origin in the even more ancient Germanic languages like all modern Germanic languages do. Duh.

'Westminster' is not 'England'. There is no English government, only British government. There is a Scottish government however lol.

Scotland would leave tomorrow if Westminster didn't keep blocking Indyref2. And I guarantee you we will get Indyref2 because Westminster couldn't run a bath let alone the UK. Thankfully we self govern enough to not be utterly economically destroyed. It took Westminster a decade to catch up with Scotlands renters rights bill for England and Wales.

You'd think you'd know more about Scotland given NYC is just a bigger Temu-version of Glasgow architecture and culture.

Slang, however, is not older than the languages that they are derived from.

Glasgow has architecture and culture? Mud huts no higher than two stories covered with thatch is architecture and staying up 3 days straight drinking whiskey is culture? That is really very informative.

Scots is not slang, it is a language.

Come visit, Glasgow. I'm sure your brand of combatitive and racist ranting will do you wonders around the great people of this city 😉

Is that that Eye in the Sky ride London?
Somehow I was under the impression that London was supposed to be a tad more impressive. Looks like Co-op City only with a lot less buildings but prettier neon lights.

Nah, we didn't waste our money on a big wheel for tourists to get spun around and look at the gray, decaying streets of London for a fee. We instead invested in to less important things like healthcare, education, public resources for the vulnerable and emergency services for Glasgow. No big deal to be fair.

I also forgot that Glasgow and London were the same place until your obviously superior knowledge bestowed upon me this wisdom. Which is incredible given both cities are 400 miles apart 🤔
