Didn't see it anywhere actually. My best friend's Dad enlisted in the Navy when he was 17, and his first duty station was Pearl Harbor, November 1941. He didn't talk about it much, but when he did it was powerful. He talked about standing beside a welder torching out a section of hull to rescue trapped sailors. When the torch cut through a hole smaller than a dime, there was such a tremendous rush of air and body parts that the welder was killed instantly as well as all the men who had been trapped. He was covered with their remains.
They communicated with trapped sailors with morse code. The trapped men would tap out things like, "4 of us in forward motor room." A few days later, "3 in forward motor room." A few more days and "Only me." "Only me." Only me." then silence.
He was tortured by the experience till his dying day, but he was a positive and kind man to everyone who ever met him. RIP Joe Hammond.
