Without people who would tell you about God?

God would tell you about God, of course!

God has other methods, and actually, He does speak to people sometimes.

Or does he? Most of the people that say God spoke to them are seen as crazy or commit heinous crimes like decapitating an innocent person on a bus.

The Bible says to compare what you hear with scripture, those people clearly didn't. Also, "most of the people" according to you, are only the small minority who make the news.

It really doesn't matter what the Bible says, critical thinking trumps anything written in any book, especially when it has been edited and translated by a biased authority!

Most translations are actually pretty accurate.

Critical thinking is great, but so are books, especially ones that were written so well that they are considered by some to have been ordained by a Deity.

Logically, books are the result of critical thinking, so when you read a book, you are getting someone else's critical thoughts.

When you read a book, you are getting someone else's critical thoughts, misconceptions, prejudice, superstitions and biases.

...plus ideas, plans, views, arguments, and judgements. Heck, even fiction has these.

When I read your comments, I am getting your "critical thoughts, misconceptions, prejudice, superstitions and biases" as well as your "ideas, plans, views, arguments, and judgements."

Yes and you are projecting yours as well.

We agree on the point, as your most recent comment suggests, which means you'll still have to tell me why a book can't be accurate.

Because people that write books also have "critical thoughts, misconceptions, prejudice, superstitions and biases" as well as "ideas, plans, views, arguments, and judgements."

Proving that a book could very well be accurate.
