there was a remake made in 1997. I refused to watch it. But it's interesting that Stephen King wrote & produced it because he didn't like the original.

The Shining (miniseries)
1997 American horror television miniseries
The Shining (stylized as Stephen King's The Shining) is a 1997 three-episode horror television miniseries based on the 1977 Stephen King novel of the same name. Directed by Mick Garris from King's teleplay, it is the second adaptation of King's book after the 1980 film by Stanley Kubrick and was written and produced by King based on his dissatisfaction with Kubrick's version. The miniseries was shot at The Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, Colorado, King's inspiration for the novel, in March 1996.
Ok, thank you, I didn't know that. I watched the original (Kubrick). I really enjoyed it. I still need to read the book, so I don't know what exactly Stephen King didn't like about it, but either way, the movie was really good.
I've been to the Stanley Hotel several times because I've lived not too far from it for quite a while. It's like I've been following Stephen King my whole life. But Kubrick's Shining is way better.
I'm definitely watching "Doctor Sleep" this weekend. I was also told that it's really good and also pretty close to the novel (I haven't read a lot by Stephen King, I'm pretty new to the entire horror genre, but I love it for its confrontational and therapeutic aspects and also just the fun of it). I'm pretty excited to see the movie. I'm hoping for a building of tension just as great as in the 1980 movie.
