I'd like to see nuclear power taken to the next level. I'd like to see nuclear fusion power plants become reality. Fusion plants work the same way as fission plants, using heat to boil water and rotate a turbine. Fusion plants have two other advantages. They use less fuel over time and there's no risk of a meltdown.
Even the new fission plant design is inherently safe, 1/10th the size of previous generation type, 1/3rd the power and inherently safe, cannot melt down. 24/7 power, therefore solar and wind near worthless since does not work 24/7.
The first US Fusion going in Oak Ridge, I think still a little too new. New fission for a decade or 2. Then go close to 90 percent fusion if it does great.
Oh, I know it. Sunlight and wind is literally 100% fickle as it gets during the Fall/Winter season. Just this last week my area was complete overcast and very little wind with temps in the low 40Fs max. . .and yesterday and today. . .very sunny. Like I said it's all fickle.
