Once a person gets used to see something like an US flag on the wall, that image will be imprinted into their (un)conscious mind and will start walking past it without giving it a second thought. It wouldn't be unusual for someone else to make a switch like this and the first person won't realize it until someone else points it out.

This innocent Republican gave her thousands of dollars, and the nun gave them flag stickers for their donations. Little did this poor, innocent Republican know that they were SWASTIKA flags, and the liberal person used the donations to buy puberty blockers for transgender illegals.
