I'm better now tho but I almost didn't make it

What happened

so I was on a beach trip and there was a ridiculous rip current that pulled me out of where I could stand, and the waves were huge and so I tried to ride them back to shore but the rip current kept pulling me back until I was stuck out for so long that I got tired
and just then, the waves got even bigger (they were double my size) and I no longer had the energy to jump over them, so they just slammed me and flipped me multiple times, slammed me into the ground, and none of it got me any closer to shore

Eventually some ppl came and rescued me (and I had no ability to fight by then) but if I had no one there I would definitely not have survived
I had to get rushed to an ambulance and taken to the hospital bc once I got to the shore, I wasn't capable of moving anymore and passed out on the sand

It was extremely scary

ugh i feel that, water-related stuff is scary af

I think I developed mini pneumonia bc saltwater got in my lungs

if you ever get pulled out by a rip current, never go against it. let it pull you out, and swim to the side away from it. once you get to the side far enough then swim back

yeah that's what people were telling me afterwards
I never thought of that bc it seemed like the current was everywhere

but I just got out earlier today

I was in the ICU for 2 days

That's so crazy I'm kinda speechless 😶
Do you know about the thing where you swim diagonal to shore or did it not apply in this situation

That current was unlike anything I've ever seen
