"No, the president makes appointments to the FCC, but it is an independent agency overseen by Congress."
That's not 100% accurate. The original idea of rule by administration was started by Woodrow Wilson so that he could pass "laws" without Congress. He created a lot of administrations with the idea that he would be able to control them. Since this both Republicans and Democrats have been taking advantage of this power.
Most Republicans in recent years have not bothered the administrations but Democrats frequently use them. Bush Jr was the last Republican to create a new department with his completely and totally unnecessary Dept of Homeland Security.
Trump created DOGE but it was a temporary administration tasked with the goal of identifying and eliminating government waste. Apparently Democrats must love it when the government wastes their money.
"Biden's Disinformation Governance Board was part of the DHS. It had nothing to do with the FCC. Admittedly, it was a difficult 3 weeks for all the Russbots and other bots from China, Iran, Korea and Vietnam and whatnot cracking down on them."
I didn't say it was part of the FCC, however, guidelines were being disseminated to all of the agencies, including the FCC, to combat conservative speech.
"I can see the reason for the confusion, Biden and Trump are both old. But FCC Chair Brendan Carr is a Trump appointee, and it is by his bidding that Carr is threatening and censoring TV media for insulting HRH."
In Trump's first term he did a lot of stupid things and he appointed a lot of people who stabbed him in the back. Remember, I didn't think much of Trump in his first term and I didn't vote for him either. Trump 2.0 is nothing at all like Trump 1.0. In the 4 years that Biden weaseled his way into the white house by massive voter fraud, it gave Trump time to figure out what a conservative is. Remember he was a life long New York Democrat (the worst kind). He became independent a few years before he ran for president and only became a Republican so that he would have a chance to win. He still had a lot of his Democrat ideas with him when he ran in 2016. He campaigned sounding exactly like a Democrat who was pretending to be a conservative but net fully understanding conservatism.
But that 4 years of Biden completely changed Trump. He's saying all of the things that I had actually given up hoping a president would ever say.
