I get the impression the killer had quite complex political views (and a few personal demons, as usual). π€ Same goes for Luigi Mangione (remember him? β people have short attention spans). It's not always just a black and white right vs left thing. And also a lot of that is much more nuanced anyway once you leave the US political context where it's probably a lot more pronounced. Always Us v Them.
This whole polarization is arguably one of the things that got us in this whole toxic mess. And internet echo chambers and self-reinforcing algorithms have increased that on steroids because technology and capitalism don't care about societal or individual wellbeing, just what makes money. We forgot to regulate it better to our peril, if you ask me. We didn't evolve to live in a world like this.
I try to follow as many people as I can on all sides and get a bit of everything, including "nutters" who hold totally opposite opinions to me. We're all very tribal by nature and it's easy to get sucked in tbf, myself included.
