I have so many story ideas I thought would be too strange or difficult to make work. In working for a mod for a grand strategy game I had to eventually use one, and the reception ended up being very positive. Sometimes you have to embrace those ideas- even if you throw them at the wall only for them not to stick, you'll get better at making them work next time.

modding for the game EU4, more specifically making a submod for the fantasy mod Anbennar. It combines several niche parts of the mod's lore and sees you growing very strong off that and culminating in you fighting a massive war against the world's Europe counterpart

(I'd explain in more detail but it requires an amount of background knowledge about the setting in the first place to really convey)
