There have been male cheerleaders for a long time. As far as Regan goes, just wearing that sweater didn't make him a cheerleader. So I think you could probably have found a more appropriate, identifiable example, if you had tried. I suspect, without knowing of course, that you're mainly trying to troll folks, since Reagan is an icon to the right.
But since you brought up Reagan's time at Eureka College, in the past (like when he was attending, most likely...) there was a pretty clear informal dividing line between what activities the male cheerleaders do versus the female cheerleaders. Even if Reagan was a cheerleader (he could have been... you might have gotten that one right, I just don't care enough to confirm), I would bet a paycheck that didn't prance around like these guys do. Which, I have no problem with. Cheerleaders really have nothing to do with the game itself, and people can choose to watch or not watch NFL games based on the cheerleaders if they so choose. And with me believing 100% in freedom, if men want to be cheerleaders and act very feminine in the course of doing so, it doesn't matter to me. I can support the freedom without personally approving of what they do.
With that being said, others may feel the same way from the freedom perspective, and maybe also find all this personally distasteful to the point where they would exercise their freedom to protest. So there may be some legitimate blowback about this. Protests at games, Viking ticket sales and merchandise sales could drop, etc., etc. Who knows, this move could turn out to be popular, locally. This is Minnesota we're talking about, and they've elected Tampon Tim to be their governor 2x and he was a Congressman for several terms. They just seem to love folks like him, and the cheerleaders are like him.
