Well after 65 you spend a lifetime paying into Medicare for them to turn around and let nursing homes sease and freeze all property and assets. Once uneducated aunt flow dies cousin Suzie is left with nothing but a nursing home bill and a auction to arrange. Sickening isn't it?

I think a co payment is fair for guaranteed healthcare for the elderly and disabled. Maybe that makes me a humanitarian, but I only support humanitarian access for American citizens. I'm even so independent that I believe the system should only cater benefits to natural born citizens. That way the system is secure and not vulnerable to Robbed by foreign invasion.

Maybe she wasn't educated in the importance of signing up for Medicare when she applied for social security. So it is still tied to the government. Some refuse the expensive part because social security pays out a low income, and because it's the only solist program in America standards and rules need to be addressed, not profited on penalties for not signing up right away.

When a undereducated woman who relied on men in the 40s and 50s and believed in the Republican way can no longer take care of themselves and live on peanuts because the Medicare insurance is 249 and the cost after coverage of 100 days is 10- 14k a month for care, your eyes get opened to just how bad some families with elderly individuals from the 20s and 30s are really doing. And yes if you initially take both parts of Medicare when retiring, you don't get penalized. But not everyone looks to the future when they are healthy and need the extra money. That's why Medicade exists, but depending on assets they will gladly sease them till all medical costs are paid, and state funding is the only thing left for the individual. Meanwhile people in jail can still own their house and once they get out they can visit it.

Poor choices is not the fault of the government, and taxpayers should not have to pay for their mistakes. You came into this world with nothing, you’ll leave with nothing.

One needs to look at their life, the quality of their life and how it will continue to deteriorate. What benefit is had by continuing? We can put our pets down when it gets to that point, why not have the same option?

Your not getting it dude unless your grew up in one 30s went throughout WW2, dust bowl, and the depression, you bulled together through those times as a nation and trusted what the government was saying. The programs they said would take care of you in the future, are no longer taking care of those who grew up in a era of radio, the first tv, and newspaper. They had never made poor choices for their future, they were raised humbled and many struggled to get what they have. Now that families see what little they actually have, and are to busy working for their own survival, they have to watch the elderly loose everything they paid taxes on to the nursing home, and to the state government. It's something that should be looked into and journalismed on. Plus all the insurance scams in someones lifetime is another sickening story. That once again our government has failed to set rules and regulations to protect it's longest paying taxpayers.

Ok well you will grow old, then after the healthcare system forces you into paying them with anything you have left, then forces you onto a healthcare plan, good luck they still won't kill you. It's mandatory that once you reach 65 you take Medicare. Sure your employer might have a Medicare plan for you, but you still have to take it. So good luck. I hope your state legalizes assisted death, and your loved ones keep you alive. Most people take care of themselves till they die the ones that can't still deserve dignity and protections. That's what is wrong in America, no dignity and too much money going towards businesses that syphon the resources.

Actually, I do get it. I see the whole picture and that doesn’t include having taxpayers pay for people lying on their deathbed for 10 years. Sorry you don’t agree, but actions have consequences. The consequences may not always be what you want but they are what they are. You want the government to take care of you until you finally die. I just want to take care of myself until I die. If I get to the point I can no longer take care of myself, then give me the same shot you give a dog when it’s time
