You do know that every item you listed is also found in America, right?

Coffee, check, grown in America
Bananas, check, grown in America
Papaya, check, grown in America
Lithium is found in America.

No, not like other countries, but you do know that there are other options if you don’t want to buy their shit

Coffee, Grown in Hawaii but in not large enough production to supply the US
Bananas, Also Grown in Hawaii but in recent years smaller and smaller amounts and has mostly stop exporting them to mainland USA and other countries, the main exporter of US bananas is florida but these are cooking bananas and not the kind you eat raw
Papaya, well you got me here, but thats mainly because nobody eats papaya in the USA so its not hard to supply the US with papaya
Lithium, while yes found in america, deposits are becoming very rare, so most of it is becoming imported

Like I said…not always like other countries, but there is a choice, and there isn’t a single item on your list that you can’t live without.

Lithium is a requirement is most batteries so no more devices and electronics for you

Arkansas says hold my beer on the lithium claim, while there is quite a bit of development going on to replace lithium with safe, environmentally friendly batteries. Necessity is the mother of invention and US companies are good at developing alternatives

So does that mean that near enough every nation is taxing american citizens?
Because near enough every nation imposes an import and export tax on American goods.

I bet a lefty will point out your grammatical error and not address your point.

Are you really bothered by "near enough"?

No, it's a trick some use to dodge made point, they nitpick and ignore the point.

Grammar is pretty key to meaning, but I guess it's good to see that you're a liberal about something.

It's actually basic reasoning. You argue what is meant to try to find the truth. Hiccups can be caused by grammar or misinterpretation, but it's important to try to move past that rather than try dirty tricks to win the argument.

Asking people to explain their thoughts clearly (which is where grammar comes in) is "dirty tricks"? Not even my 6th graders would try to float that one past me.

No, I've mean using grammar as a refutation of an argument.

When they put an import tax on American goods, they're taxing their own people and businesses, as Trump is doing to us with his tariffs on imported goods.

But due to economics, they cannot just raise priced without people buying elsewhere. So they have to eat at least some of the cost.

It is also a tool used in negotiations to secure better deals, and protect domestic goods from unfair pricing.

And, for comparison, here are some times we tried that strategy:
