I've used this technique for 12 years, I can confirm it works 10/10

I don't even know what those chemicals does but it doesn't require common sense to know mixing chemicals especially in science class can get yourself killed

mustard gas (literal chemical weapon used in war which is now considered a war crime)

Yes I know mustard gas was in world war II but I did not know you could literally engage with chemical warfare with literally household items

Aluminum and rust makes thermite.

Nice! Thermite grenades!

You have to powder them and mix them well. You also need a good ignition source.
You'll not likely to pull it off.

Ok ... So what is the best way then?

Getting pure clean refined rust is harder than it sounds. Hand warmers are a good source. And powdered aluminum is a key component for explosives that will definitely get you flagged as a potential terrorist if you try to acquire it on the web. And if you some how make it yourself without burning yourself to death, you'll Darwin yourself with the thermite.

I may be an idiot, but couldn’t you just sand down like, part of a car body or something and then use the “sawdust”?
0 ups, 8h
You'd have more sand than iron that way. Like I. Said, hand warmers. When you open and shake them air mixes with the salts in the iron and makes the iron rust soo fast it gets warm, still not as pure as you would need it to be. If you're that determined to make thermite you can find some useful videos on YouTube.

Ok I wont

The only practical use for thermite is cutting thru metal when you don't have access to a blowtorch, like when the airborne troops on d-day dropped into Normandy and disabled German artillery guns.
0 ups, 8h
Yeah... Theroticaly it can be used to save lives ( if the fire is controlled) or disabling guns , security or getting into areas you cant

Well you really shouldn't, This stuff will burn under water and is hot enough to melt steal. Be careless and you'll have to let it burn itself as it starts a huge fire, and when om a container will spread out and cover an area. If you really want to know, I suggest looking it up elsewhere along with precaution so you don't burn and win a Darwin award.

If you want to make a cool "poof" without burning a hole to the center of the earth you can mix powdered zinc (70 percent) with powdered sulfur (30 percent) and light it with a torch. It's like flash powder.
0 ups, 8h
I won't... But it's kinda cool in situations you can make weapons to defend yourself...imma put this in my " apocalypse or if zombies virus does really happens contagency plan"
