If you're talking about stuff like Tommy Robinson accusing that Syrian kid, Jamal Hijazi, of attacking girls, they also arrest you for that. Because it's libel and he lost the case due to insufficient evidence for his claim.
He also went to prison at least once for contempt of court, because he filmed outside a serious court case when he was ordered not to, and ignored the judges. That's a serious offense because it can jeopardize and collapse the entire case and then no one gets justice.
If you're talking about free speech laws getting a bit draconian in the UK recently and people getting hefty prison sentences for posting a sentence on social media, I'd probably agree actually. Should've got fined or community service or something. Although inciting violence is also an offense, but I think they were too heavy-handed just to make an example of them, and it may well come back to haunt them later.
