Aurora Kidnapping Attempt
Solomon Galligan, a 33-year-old registered sex offender, was arrested by Aurora police after attempting to kidnap a child at Black Forest Hills Elementary School in Aurora, Colorado. The incident occurred during fifth-grade recess on April 19, 2024, when Galligan approached several children on the school grounds and attempted to grab a young boy before fleeing the area.
Surveillance video showed Galligan wearing a blue hoodie, dark pants, and carrying a white blanket, and he was later identified by students and a witness.
Galligan was charged with one count of attempted kidnapping and is being held in the Arapahoe County Jail on a $25,000 bond.
He has a history of failing to register as a sex offender, including a 2011 conviction for non-consent sexual contact.
The Cherry Creek School District increased security and police presence at the school following the incident.
In July 2025, the district attorney's office stated they were planning to drop charges against Galligan due to his mental incompetence to stand trial.
