It’s duct tape!! And you need to just use a pair of scissors to cut it off again. :)

i mean how they divide the tape into sections that could be cut out and flattened onto foam and be cut and then refolded into its origional shape

You cut and stick them flat onto a piece of paper to act as a stencil when you cut the fur.
