I don't. Defence is one thing. It would be foolish to leave your military too weak. Spending trillions on nuclear warheads or advanced cluster bombs when your citizens are struggling to pay the rent is another.

But anyway didn't you just imply you were against using taxes to fund the military? 🤔 Since you're against taxes in general, it seems. I'm agreeing with you re military spending, although I don't oppose having a military. You can't exactly leave your country undefended for some random militia to walk in and take over your government. I just don't think we should spend such an inordinate amount on... ordinances when people are going to food banks. If we had endless surplus cash, then sure, why not? But prioritizing defence spending (or rather, offence spending) when your citizens are struggling doesn't sit easily with me.

Without taxes, how do you pay for public services though? With adverts? Or have everything privately owned and run on a subscription basis? 🤔

Misusing public tax money is a problem, and corruption. But the idea is for you to benefit yourself in the long run. In theory, anyway. Pure theft would just be paying taxes and getting zero in return.

Not about being a victim. I'm genuinely curious how you fund public services without taxation. We all hate taxes. But we have to pay for infrastructure somehow. 🤔 It might be nice to rely on rich philanthropists but that's not super practical. You can pay for some roads with tolls like they do in some countries, which seems fair enough for people who don't drive. But you still need to raise funds to maintain the main functions of a country. Unless we all live in self-supporting communities like the Amish or something.

I don't want my taxes being used frivolously of course. Or for purposes I would consider less important for improving people's lives or even against my values. Like prioritizing military spending and overseas conflicts over public welfare, education and health care.
