Maybe so; but that's a harsh thing to say about leftists.

You win Godwin's Law today.

Seriously, stop talking about Nazis. It's not helping anyone.

It's tacky, offensive and dumb. FFS there are dozens of regimes you could pick. Why is it always the Nazis?? Like seriously?

How in f**k's name is Trump comparable to the Nazis?

He might be a lunatic. Did he do Kiristallnacht?

Did he write a book blaming Immigrants for America's problems?

Has Trump built gas chambers?

Has Trump built concentration camps and is he sending people there?

Is Trump invading all his neighbours in the name of "Lebensraum"?

Does Trump espouse eugenic arguments? Is Trump obsessed with a particular ethnic group?

No.

Stop being ridiculous.

Trump is not Hitler FFS.

He's a narcissist. He's a nutter. But he's not literally Hitler. Jesus Christ. Get a grip.

Tbf you didn't actually mention Trump in your meme so that was me inferring that. Easy to merge memes here because it's so repetitive but that's on me.

Although it seems you do agree with that idea in any case.

I think I know about as much about the Holocaust and WW2 as the next reasonably informed person who's studied it at school and also taken some time to read up more about it.

I certainly don't believe in most of Trump's rhetoric. I'm just pointing out comparing him (or many other people) to the actual Nazis is a tired trope (hence Godwin's joke law exists) and I don't think it really helps us get anywhere. That was a very specific period of history. Trump is a lot of things but I think equating his regime to the Nazi party and their atrocities is not an accurate comparison.

And it's true he's just bombed Iran and I oppoose US military intervention in a lot of cases, and US imperialism (or whatever you want to call it) or military hegemony is one thing, but he's not doing that specifically to create a Greater America for the "indigenous" American people, like Hitler wanted for Germany. It's also true that they have Guantánamo, but Trump didn't build that. And it's not remotely comparable to the Nazi death camps. I think it would be incredibly offensive to all the victims and survivors to even suggest it was.

Same goes for ICE raids and anti-immigrant and especially anti-Muslim rhetoric. His language may be condemened and he may well be violating their human rights, but he's not literally shipping off immigrants to be murdered, or persecuting a specific race of people to eliminate them as a population.

Compare him to some other crazy leader or refime. I'm sure there must be examples. And by all means point out examples and find parallels of where he or some of his followers may be repeating some aspects of fascist or even neo-Nazi ideology (or Musk giving ambiguous salutes, etc). But he's not literally Hitler. That's simply my point.

If in the next few years he starts actually murdering people in a systematic genocidal way, then I'll admit you were right. (Aside from Gaza and foreign conflicts where those charges have been made and the US is arguably complicit by supplying arms, and the courts will need to decide thst. But he's not rounding people up on US soil and having them executed en masse.)

I think he's crazy, but I don't think he's genuinely evil, thankfully.

Many historians and actual Holocaust survivors say this is exactly how Germany started and Trump will become a version of Hitler eventually. To ignore all those people is just plain stupid. Anyone who does is because they believe in it. Throw in the fact that actual Nazis, proud boys etc, follow him and like everything he's doing. Any and every American that is pro Trump is doing so because they hate black people and gay people and they want them to be killed just like Nazi Germans did.

I certainly don't want to be arrogant/insensitive enough to dispute actual Holocaust survivors. I wouldn't dare to.

That's why I made my caveat about fascism.

>Anyone who does is because they believe in it.

I'm afraid I have to dispute that. I'm no fan of Trump (believe me). I just disagree that comparing him to Hitler is a valid comparison. To then make a leap to assume that means I must believe in Trump's (or even Hitler's?) ideology is a bit of a stretch, sorry. I probably think Trump is as crazy as you do. But just bc I don't want to say he's actually Hitler or sth doesn't mean I believe in anything he espouses.

The mere fact he was even able to become president out of a population of hundreds of millions blows my mind. (Like, this is the best you've got, America?)

I'm afraid that's not what's going on. The guy's the butt of constant jokes in most of the world. He's like a cartoon character. Just because I don't agree with your comparison that he's literally Hitler (or maybe that's not exactly what you're saying so apologies) doesn't necessarily mean I endorse anything he stands for. He's a nutter & (arguably) clearly exhibits some kind of personality disorder & everyone outside of apparently the US can see it. I just don't think he's about to send Mexicans or Muslims off in trains to death camps in Puerto Rico & start a global war or sth. Does that make me naive or evil? Like I said, call out his fascism, by all means. He's certainly done a lot of things similar to Hitler. But we're not there yet.

If in 5 years he's burning people in ovens, then you can absolutely own me (not that that will mean much if that actually happens). I just don't think it will. He's definitely a problem. He's undermining a lot of what it means to be a modern democratic nation. But he's not 1930s Hitler. Disagreeing with you on that hypothetical idea doesn't necessarily make me a fascist appeaser or a "racist" (whatever that means these days).

>actual Nazis, proud boys etc, follow him and like everything he's doing

Yes. I'm well aware of this. I'm not happy about it either.

>Any and every American that is pro Trump is doing so because they hate black people and gay people and they want them to be killed just like Nazi Germans did.

This is a very bold claim: Trump supporters "hate" black and gay people, & they also want them to be killed.

I don't deny that the Trump Administration's rhetoric is inflammatory, but Trump fans aren't actually calling for genocide.

Also ignore typos. This site gets glitchy when you try to write long messages and automatically scrolls down making it hard to edit, and my phone has a habit of overwriting words or Autocorrecting stuff.
