Contractor walks into the City of LA One Stop Rebuilding Center handling the Pacific Palisades fires permits to speak directly to the source

- Building permits ARE NOT being issued
- Permit Fees ARE NOT WAIVED
- They can’t even answer how long it would take to get any kind of approval. They actually say they have no idea

- They literally don’t even know how long it could take to get a permit
- Not only are the permit fees not waived but this contractor says he’s even had to pay the fees on destroyed properties. The officer is unaware if any refunds can or will be issued.
- When asked if any permits are being issued he says “very very few,” so no.

Giant land grab. If the land isn't built on for a certain length of time or if the owners don't keep up with the property taxes, the land will be purchased for the price of the back taxes. Or less?

Owners were facing huge sums to bring the properties up to code before they could start rebuilding.

The homes were not in violation of the code when they were originally built. The city is using the new codes as an excuse to force the owners off their properties.

Indeed. Many of the homes were in the hands of second and third generation owners with many of those not being fans of the democratocracy currently reigning over their cities and state. If you can't increase your voting base faster than the other side... "Encourage" the other side to leave and make a hefty profit off them.
