So... Ignoring indie since the US clearly doesn't give a shit about them, yeah anime is better.

The USA absolutely gives a giant shit about indie, it's just too much of an oligarchy for indie studios to catch large company attention despite the public absolutely loving them.

no, the average person gives a shit, but big companies would rather publish slop that somehow takes attention away from these indie studios

What ad do you think you'll see if you turn on your TV right now, a good quality indie series or an ad for another soulless Disney live action remake

To all the big companies it's not a popular thing that a ton of people love, it's just a random YouTube video
