Also to get work in Mexico you have to have either a skill in demand among Mexican citizens (like teaching English) or start a business that will employ native Mexicans. You can’t just go there in search of a better job.

I have an acquaintance who was on a student visa in Mexico. Some of his classmates asked him to help them learn English. They bought him lunch and beers. It made the local newspaper. The next day the Federales showed up and said he was being deported.
