Ghost was kinda generic. The only thing unique about him was his skull mask. Take that away and he's just a less interesting version of Gaz. Soap is a fully fleshed out character and his diary ads even more depth.
Soap is an absolute badass as well. They did him so dirty in MW3. He should have taken Yuri's place in the story.

Bro WHAT? GAZ? gaz is basically a ghost in training. Ghost is respected by everyone in cod as well and he's always the most badass one except for maybe captain price. Soap is rly cool too tho, I think ghost soap and price are the 3 best

Lets run through what Simon Riley does in the OG MW trilogy:

Barley survives the favela mission and is as generic as every other NPC

Ads nothing helpful to the Oil Rig mission.

Cries all through the Gulag mission and spends the whole mission struggling to open a few doors.

Does nothing of note in the Contingency mission except scream at price at the end of the mission.

Barley survives invading Makarovs house and gets shot like a chump and burned by General Shepherd.

That's it. That's all he does though the whole game. You could replace him with any other randomly generated npc and nothing at all changes.

This is why I never understood the Ghost fanclub.

He was a cool sight to behold when you turned to your side and saw a skull mask guy, but that was it.

Exactly mate. Ghost doesn't even look 'cool' at all. He looks like what a 12 year old paying airsoft thinks a badass teir-1 operator looks like. Soap and Price got that genuine SAS vibe to them that looks like something you'd see in a declassified image. Ghost isn't even fit to lace up Frost or Roach's boots for them. Dude was a joke tbh and his fandom are edgelords who think skull mask = cool.

Soap is real badass of Call Of Duty. he has the most badass moments and his drip is S-tier. And I'm not just saying that because Soap is not only Scottish but also from Glasgow like me, but because Soap actually is a legend.
But also "Alba gu bràth" to my favourite video game character. RIP legend!

Roach is WAAAAAAAY more badass that Ghost and the guy never says a word. There's not even a picture of his face.
Lets run through what Roach does in Modern Warfare 2:

Takes down a whole ass Russian military base and saves Soap.

Leads the charge in capturing Rojas right hand man, survives the heaviest favela fighting single handily with no support.

Survives a near fatal flaw in Hornets Nest and f**king sprints through a warzone to to dolphin dive onto a moving helicopter 500 feet off the ground.

Successfully rescues all of the hostages on the Russian oil rig and clears the area for the US SEAL teams

Leads the charge against Russian forces in the gulag and despite getting blown up by US fighter jets and crushed with rubble the size of a car, he manages to find and rescue price and get his team to safety.

Successfully sneaks into a Russian sub base with Price and takes on yet another whole Russian military base all while operating a predator drone.

Clears Makarovs safe house and captures the DSM solo. Survives endless waves of Russian militia while protecting a computer for 12 minutes.

Gets hit with a mortar and shot in the chest by General Price and still remains conscious and defiant even while Shadow Co. burns him alive.

Roach is everything fans pretend Ghost is. Except Roach doesn't need a goofy skull mask to be cool. He earns that title.
