Why, though? 🤔 English is already a giant mishmash of tons of languages and that didn't stop us. What is "English lexicon"? Thousands of English words are either loaned or invented/adapted from Latin, Greek and dozens of other languages. Diglossia and code-switching are fun, n'est-ce pas?

Or are you just worried about Māori getting diluted and threatened by too many English/foreign loanwords? Then I probably agree with you to an extent.

You have no idea how Leftists and Maori are trying to remove white people in New Zealand.
What's being suggested and insisted on here is, a formula topreserve the Maori Languge and not let their radical run rough shod over white .... not just English pal, but any white culture.

Cheers for the comments. Sounds like it's a pretty emotive issue. Do you have any links to anything I can have a look at that explains more in depth about this? Like articles about groups that are trying to replace English with some new hybrid language, or force Maori on everyone or something? I'm not very familiar with the specific context tbf so please forgive my ignorance.

Are you worried that people are trying to erase your culture and identity through the back door in the name of political correctness (and you can't protest cos they'll call you racist, etc)?

Is there any way you can find a setup where you can all live together without either group diminishing the other one? Like they preserve their ancestral language, and you don't have to kowtow to anything or lose a part of your cultural identity?
