Church and state should continue to stay separated, and for very good reason. If politics and religion get into the same car to go for a spin, they'll floor the gas pedal and go so fast that they wont have time to register that they're going too fast before they inevitably crash into something.
But yeah, an American Pope is incredible, to say the least - I honestly never expected it :>
