Think positive thoughts while you're doing it. Say things, out loud, like, "Today is a great day" and "Thank you for this beautiful day". It helps start the day out positive. (you should use this breathing technique and say positive things before you fall asleep too) 🕊️

I forgot to say ... the only time you breathe deep like that is when you are safe. Doing it on purpose when you first wake up tells your body and mind that you are safe. It relaxes your defences so you can start your day calmly. It might not stay that way but if your day goes wonkie breathe deep to remind it everything is still ok.
