my take on trump's handling of the border crisis, better than first term

my take on trump's handling of the border crisis, better than first term | SENATE REPUBLICANS LAST YEAR: WE'RE WORKING WITH DEMOCRATS ON A BI-PARTISAN BORDER SECURITY BILL; TRUMP: DON'T PASS IT. WAIT UNTIL I GET INTO OFFICE. I GOT SOMETHING BETTER; SENATE REPS: YOU SURE YOU CAN WIN? I PERSONALLY USED TO BE MORE LIBERAL ON IMMIGRATION. AS MUCH AS OUR COUNTRY WAS BUILT BY IMMIGRANTS, THEY NEED TO REALIZE THAT AMERICA ISN'T AS RICH AS THEY THINK, AND THERE ARE TIMES WHERE
WE NEED TO PRIORITIZE OUR CITIZENS. TRUMP: I HAVE MY WAYS; A LOT OF IMMIGRANTS, BOTH WITH AND WITHOUT DOCUMENTATION, SIMPLY WANT TO WORK TOWARDS THE AMERICAN DREAM, AND THOSE WHO ENGAGE IN CRIME DO NOT REPRESENT THE WHOLE IMMIGRANT COMMUNITY. I STILL THINK THAT WE CAN GIVE IMMIGRANTS A CHANCE, BUT ONLY ONCE WE DEPORT THOSE WHO ENGAGE IN CRIME AND WE FIX OUR ECONOMY SHOULD WE RAISE QUOTAS AGAIN. | image tagged in inception, trump, immigration, discussion, republicans, opinion | made w/ Imgflip meme maker

Raising the quota got us in this mess over time. And we need to stick to the original law with the quota to not surpasses that original number they would let through Ellis Island. Immigration is not the same today as it was when America became famous for immigration. Immigrants were only allowed to come through one port of entry via boat. Now it's instant through any international airport. The world was 3x less populated than it is now we cannot allow all the countries in the world a ticket to immigrate when Americans are putting off families because they can't afford homes and clothing, but yet make to much for food stamps, Medicaid, and section 8. It's funny that the people who pay for the system watch refugees and immigrants access the system. Illegal immigrants are a whole different issue. Our government has been controlling this immigration fiasco, and have been increasing the numbers for a long time now. If you have to work 3 jobs to afford the massive consumer pressures in America that dream becomes a hallucination quickly.

That's the status quo as of now, but if Trump and successive Republicans and moderate Democrats can revamp the economy to the point it can support a greater number of people than the total U.S. population, then allowing more immigration can help bring talented and skilled workers that would otherwise move to countries that are adversaries of the U.S. and serve them instead.

Personally America doesn't need more people it needs less people. If America could get back to the number of population during the baby boom it would in return be better for the consumers, and not a population focused on how to make money off massive amounts of people... It's never been about workers it's always been about money in numbers. I thank China for that one because population for some reason made the government more powerful. It also made corporations, and governments rich. Instead of saying bring in talent, we should be raising talent. But most parents today work long hours and kids are being raised by the public school system. Very sad situation, and not ideal to think it's a common view to bring in a foreign village, take care of those individuals as if they were superior to your own citizens. Nobody comes to serve America, they come to gather intelligence, live the experience, and receive incentives via their governments and ours. Now we have countries in Europe paying American scientists to move because of budget cuts. Plus America now has gray areas in science thanks to the only life movement.

I do see your point that our system had flaws embedded at some point in history and that we lost some of the ability to reach our American dreams just to work for those of the powerful.
