You're kidding, right? No one that knows anything about history would say that. Our ancestors lives were brutal and I didn't need therapy when our principal was shot or when I listened to music our elders called "devil's music". Abuse was, and still is, expected by most women and minorities throughout history. You sound kind of like a grandparent when they say, "kids these days" without remembering their grandparents said the same thing about them.
