Why’d they have to name her bacon tho XD

She was named after the English philosopher Francis Bacon. I think that the creator of this strip wanted to continue the tradition of Bill Watterson naming Calvin and Hobbes after the French theologian John Calvin and the English philosopher Thomas Hobbes.
