To date, taxes have never been raised in response to climate change, which itself wasn't heard about by the general public till the late 80s.



 We had heard about a coming ice age in the 1970s, which now climatologists attempt to dismiss as just a couple articles published here and there, never accepted by the science as serious. But this is before the Internet, and the cover of Time Magazine was the cover of Time Magazine, and TV news was TV news, and bitterly cold winters were bitterly cold winters. 



Action had been taken by the government and public against pollution back then, but there were no taxes raised for that either. 



Things like Teslas are heavily subsidized (I heard @$7500 per vehicle. Let's see King Elon & DOGE snip that),  but again not with any taxes raised.

How do you suppose those initiatives got paid for?  Taxes.



The EPA didn't get established for free, it was paid for by taxes & was formed right after a decade worth of climate based folks made a stink.

Still waiting for a list of added taxes for Climate Change in the 1960s, 70s, 80s, & 90s (the term became a thing after temps started dipping in 2000, messing up Global Warming  predictions -  itself something that came into vogue in the latter half of the 1980s).
