All these years later I still love Mirror’s Edge

Mirror’s Edge Catalyst is MUCH better, but the original is still extremely fun. I still haven’t seen a game series nail first-person platforming like this.

Upon replaying it I tried out the time trials and realized I missed out on a whole half of the game. The time trials test your speed and skill through chunks of the game’s campaign and force you to take routes through the levels you might not have thought about before.

It does have its drawbacks like how it forces you to use guns sometimes, the B button swings your view to the desired location which can make you fall off, and its move set is somewhat lacking, which is why I say Catalyst is better. I don’t think its ambitions were fully conceptualized, but it’s still a great time.

Is it purely a platforminggame?

Wallrunning, sliding, zip lining, spring boarding, you name it.

Although the button layout takes getting used to, after it clicks you’ll never want to go back.

Why do 3D platformers keep making the jump button “A”? It’s unintuitive and Mirror’s Edge understood that.

Is Ts catching me off guard like dead space controls?

It’s good because you have constant access to both joysticks while jumping.

When you make it the A button, you have to take your thumb off the right joystick to jump, so you can no longer look around or change direction.
