I was a big fan. There's even been talk of doing a reboot, but there's a problem in that one person owns the rights to the show, and another owns the rights to the TV movies plus short series made after, so ownership is a mess,,,
DS9 was actually a ripoff of it. The writers of Babylon 5 presented the idea to Paramount, who was interested, but then backed out because they felt it would have been odd with two parallel future outer space Sci Fi universes. So they dropped it and then suddenly they came up with the curiously similar Deep Space 9.
Anyways, in Babylon 5, Kosh was a Vorlon ambassador, as seen in the pic, always suited up in a spacesuit due to atmospheric requirements. The one time he was seen without a suit, various alien races saw their respective versions of angels, as they were each genetically programmed to see them as eons ago. Vorlons were one of a group of ancient species known as the First Ones, and they were immortal.
Capt Sheridan (Bruce Boxleitner), was very close to him, and basically the Vorlons were the DS9 Prophets and Sheridan was the Sisko. The Vorlons watched over, but they didn't want to interfere with the development of the younger races. It became understood that Sheridan was supposed to be this pivotal figure in the oncoming war between good and evil races.
Anyways, Sheridan got irritated with the Vorlons just standing by the sidelines when they were capable of so much more, so he implored Kosh that they do something when a big battle was looming. So Kosh related and did with his ship, but died in the process.
The Vorlons were really miffed because "it had been a long time since one of them died."
Kosh's replacement ambassador wasn't as friendly, and when first introduced, Sheridan asked what can we call him.
"Kosh," he said,
"Kosh?" asked Sheridan,
"We are all Kosh" said the new one.
"I guess we are, " said Sheridan.
Something like that.
Ahh, the 90s, back when I still had a functional memory,,,
There's a Babylon 5 stream here.
