Or the prophets, who foretold Jesus' coming and were often killed for calling out their kings and people.

And of course, people have been killing each other over their beliefs since the beginning of time.

The whole idea of democracy was to create a society where people can disagree on things without killing each other. Cancel culture is doing nothing new, but it’s far less horrific than what we had before.
